Nissan Scorpion SBR180 with
Fairfax bodies were ordered by Yellow Bus, the predecessor of Stagecoach
Auckland, in 1996/97. These buses have fleet numbers 1801-1892. Of which 1801-12
and a few others work on 'Link' service,
which goes in a loop, clockwise and anti-clockwise, every 10 minutes during the day, and
15 on weekends.
1800 series are super low floor buses, while other buses of the same type,
1202-1241, are conventional floor buses. They have Allison
gearboxes. They are noisy and provide very bad ride quality.
They were built locally by a Nissan factory at New Zealand, which has now been closed.
Stagecoach Auckland is the largest user of Scorpions, while a few operators also run a few odd examples.
