The U-MK218J was a demonstrator for Kowloon Motor Bus. It was supplied in 1995 to show their effort of lowering the floor level. However, Kowloon Motor Bus did not make further purchase because of the lack of disabled access facility. The bus involved in a collision in Sham Shui Po and was subsequently withdrawn on 16 December 2002.

Two U-MK218Js were also acquired by the Hong Kong society for rehabitation.

U-MK218Js were also used as midibuses in Japan.
