NWFB Contra-vision Advertisement promoting Route 18Before introducing this bus, you should know something about the use of contra-vision overall advertisements on Hong Kong Buses. Around 1996, contra-vision technology was first introduced by Kowloon Motor Bus Co. Many overall advertisements have been out on air-conditioned buses. However, after the handover in 1997, the traffic division of Hong Kong Police Force found that contra-vision reduces the visibility of windows from the outside too much and banned the use of the technology on double-deckers. In July 2000, the government would like to lift up the ban to make Hong Kong more attractive, as Singapore, Seville, Rome and many other cities have used contra-vision advertisements and attracted many visitors. 50 double-deckers of each franchised operator can have up to 20% of windows on the upper deck covered with contra-vision material. New World First Bus put up its first contra-vision advertisement on Trident 1136 (HZ1562). The advertisement promoted its Route 18, an express route linking Kennedy Town (west end of Hong Kong Island) and North Point (east part of Hong Kong Island). the logo at the top of the page promotes NWFB Route 18 the "King of Shortcuts". The pictures below were taken on 12 August 2000 at Sau Kei Wan Terminus. The English version of the advertisement is available on some other buses. Right side
