sorted into the following pages: Since the beginning of the World War II, Guy Arab Is have been seen on the roads of England. It had been a competitor to Leyland Titan, Daimler CVs and AEC Regents. The China Motor Bus Co introduced a large number of Arab IVs and Vs from 1960 to 1970 (Arab V since 1962), before the type was withdrawn by British Leyland Motors Corporation in 1971. They included single deckers, low bridge and high bridge double deckers with a long rear overhang. The Guy Arab Vs were initially bodied by Metal Sections Limited. However, in 1979, CMB endorsed an order for 100 Alexander body kits to rebody these chassis into double deckers. This move extended their serviceable years and increased the passenger capacity. The first of the batch was rebodied at Falkirk, Scotland and had an attractive full-fronted style like the Victory 2. The last Guy Arab 5 buses retired from CMB service in 1997. CMB had converted a number of Guy Arab 5s into many different vehicles, namely cashbox carriers, training buses, recovery vehicles, water tankers, trucks and tree trimming vehicles. Some of these vehicles were converted without rebodying by Alexanders. Many of them were resold to New World First Bus in September 1998. However, nearly all of them have already retired. There are not many accidents recorded regarding Arab 5s. The most serious one happened on 28 January 1984, when 14 parents and children queuing up for enrollment to the St Paul's Kindergarten, Wong Nai Chung Road, Happy Valley, were knocked down by the LX326 (CT5776) on the pavement, 6 of them died.
