New World First bus Olympians Promoting their test on Ultra low Sulphur DieselNew World First Bus bought 20,000 litres of 0.005% sulphur diesel from BP Amoco of Great Britain, which has never been available in Hong Kong. Starting from 19 November 1999, two buses (VA41, GV9359 and VA54, HN8897) have been tested with this low sulphur diesel. VA41 is powered by a Cummins LTA10, an Euro I engine, and VA54 is powered by a Volvo DH10A-245, an Euro II engine. The test ended after 10 weeks of trial, with the assessment of performance by Department of Mechanical Engineering, Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Environmental Protection Department. The result was good and the government has proposed to import such fuel. The logo above is pasted on the two buses. This page and the next show you the details of the buses. They were taken on 16 December 1999 in Siu Sai Wan. Photographs of VA41Two ULSD fueled buses. VA41 was photographed again on 2 June 2000 at Aberdeen Bus Terminus.
