The MAN SL 202 is the successor of the SL 200. It was introduced in late 1980s. This conventional floor single deckers was widely used in Germany. Most of them have been replaced by non-step buses.

The SL 202s are also very common in New Zealand. Hundreds of buses were purchased from 1986 to 1990. Red Bus in Christchurch currently operates 58 and Stagecoach New Zealand 69. A few other buses are working with smaller operators.
