In 1995, MAN supplied a prototype super low floor double-decker to BVG for evaluation. Being different from the predecessor, the wheelchair user can get on and get off the bus without any assistance. The new design moved the second staircase to the rear, which reduced the space occupied in the saloons and increased the space for putting advertisement. Like other new buses in BVG, it has three double doors. The fleet number was allocated 3000. Later, 86 more buses were ordered by the operator to replaced the obsolete SD200.
