The front-engined version was called the MT, while the rear-engined model was called the LT. All these buses with engines not complying to any Euro Emission Standard were called 112, and they were the first buses in the MT/LT series. The MT/LT chassis were featured with leaf-spring suspension and standard floor. They were fitted with manual gearboxes. These vehicles were very common in Hong Kong as coaches and buses because they were very reliable, capable of mediocre road conditions and easy to repair. These chassis once gained a lion's share on the private bus and coach market in the territory. Among the MT112s in Hong Kong, most of them were in non-franchised service. Only dozens were purchased by New Lantao Bus, the only franchised operator which bought Isuzu buses in Hong Kong. All these buses were bodied by Jit Luen. However, front-engined buses were not welcomed by operators since they were noisier than the rear-engined buses. No chassis in the MT series which comply to Euro Emission Standards were supplied to the territory. Catalogue of Isuzu MT / LT
