Before I introduce this model, let me give you a brief introduction to Mercedes Benz bus manufacturing in Indonesia. In 1970, PT German Motor Manufacturing was established by Mercedes Benz for manufacturing Daimler Benz products in Indonesia. The plant was located at Tanjung Priok. The bus manufacturing business was started in 1979 at Wanaherang Plant. In June 2000, PT German Motor Manufacturing became PT DaimlerChrysler Indonesia. The OH 1113 is an economic coach chassis with rear engine designed for the Far East market. In 1984, the first Indonesian built OH 1113s were exported to Hong Kong. They were fitted with Boulevard bodies from Taiwan. In the late 1980s, more OH 1113s and other Indonesian models bodied by the Indonesian bodybuilder Amalgam were imported. They gave people good impression because of the logo and a more stylish (looking like O 303) look. However, owing to the quality of the bodies, later examples were seen a shift to local bodybuilders. Quite a number of these buses are still in service. Some of them are even in very good conditions. Specifications: Return to Mercedes Benz Page created: 6 February 2005 |
