Buying full-sized single-deck buses has been very rare among operators in Hong Kong since the introduction of Seddon Pennine 4s in the early 1970s. In 1992, Kowloon Motor Bus Company bought 24 11.7m long Dennis Lance buses for their services in two ways: the airport coach service and ordinary services. These buses received Alexander PS-type bodies and roof-mounted air-conditioners. The twelve single-doored coaches have 41 coach seats and two overwheel luggage racks. They were deployed to Kai Tak Airport routes. The others were dual-doored buses with 45 seats plus 33 standees.

After Kai Tak Airport was closed in July 1998, 10 coaches were handed over to Long Win Bus Company, another subsidiary of KMBH, which operated the routes to and fro the new airport. These Lances were usually deployed in routes on Chap Lap Kok Island and its adjacent new town, Tung Chung. One of them (AN23) was later transferred back to KMB. The Long Win buses have been withdrawn by September 2009.

Some Dennis Lances with Duple Metsec bodies were shipped to Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bauru, Malaysia in 1997. Similar buses have been bought by Trans Island Bus Services. They were deployed to TIBS routes, City Shuttle Service routes and as private buses. When CSS service ceased and TIBS became a part of SMRT, all the buses were transferred to SMRT Buses.
