DDA1806 Dragon (KMB AD1)

As the first air-conditioned Olympian successfully won orders in Hong Kong, Dennis, the arch-rival of Leyland in Far East market, co-operated with Duple Metsec to introduce an air-conditioned double-decker in early 1990. In early 1990, a pyototype was completely built up in England. In March 1990, the bus (DDA1806-515) arrived Hong Kong and carried out trial runs on Route 6. However, It adopted DK810, the nameplate of a 12m Dragon (3N134). In April that year, the bus was registered EL5113. Dennis seemed to have sufficient confidence that the air-conditioning unit would not fail. Unlike other air-conditioned demonstrators in Hong Kong, it has fixed windows. The pictures above were taken on 24 May 1999. The first one was taken on Canton Road and the other one was taken in China Ferry Terminal Bus Terminus on the same day.

AD1 was photographed again on 20 April 2000. It was 10 years after its first registration in Hong Kong. The first two pictures were taken on Ka Wing Street and the last picture was taken on Ma Tau Wai Road.
