BL3 - a Kowloon Motor Bus OlympianThis photograph was taken on 26 January 1999 on Sha Tsui Road, Tsuen Wan. The bus was KMB's BL3 (CR2963, B45.08), another demonstrator for Hong Kong. The small window amidships shows that it is a 10.3m bus. Photographs on this page and the next shows the interior details of the vehicle. They were taken on 24 June, 1999. This is a glance from the single width entrance. Look carefully and you will find that the fire extinguisher was situated beside the door. It was common in all demonstrators to Hong Kong. This picture shows the 3+2 layout of the lower deck and the positions of exit and staircase. Look carefully and you can find that the luggage compartment under the stairs was sealed. This picture shows the details of the exit. The handles and the positions of lamps were very different from the Alexander bodies. There is a lamp directly above the exit. Note the red rectangular warning sign beside the exit. It is written "Door closing". When the exit closes, the sign is lit and a buzzer sounds intermittently to warn passengers. It has been fitted to all KMB buses after several accidents involving alighting passengers. This pictures views from the rear to the front.
