Citybus Recovery Vehicles

Several Citybus Victories have been converted to recovery vehicles. HF2787 is not an exception. It is hard to trace what vehicle it was in the fleet. These vehicles have the roof of Alexander R type body. The picture was taken on 30 May 1998 outside Citybus Tung Chung Depot.

This picture shows the equipment in a Citybus Victory 2 recovery vehicle (CY857, former fleet number 45, former KMB fleet number G527, JVTB-811028). It was taken on 19 June 1999 on Connaught Road Central.

This picture was taken when it was towing a Citybus Leyland Olympian (394, FW5526). It had an accident in the morning on Connaught Road Central. You can see the damaged part at the front right corner. You can also see the picture of the Olympian prior to accident by clicking here. Note that a driver was controlling the steering wheel in the Olympian. Since the Victory 2 is powered by a 125kW Gardner 6LXB, it is no easy job to tow a 23-ton Olympian. The Victory 2 could only engage first gear at that time.

CY857 was photographed on 21 July 2001 on Siu Sai Wan Road.

After the merger of Citybus and New World First Bus, the Victory 2s were repainted. CY857 was towing a Dragon on Ma Tau Wai Road in 2003.
